Industrial Cartography stands as a critique of the exploitation of technology and industrialization that has marked the history of the Llobregat River. The project challenge was to create a design that would "cross the Llobregat river" without using any technological tools at any time, only using natural resources.
Our approach to this challenge was to investigate the phenomenon of the historical industrial colonies that crossed the entire length of the river, which were of great importance during the Industrial Revolution in Catalonia.
The final result of this project was the careful construction of a map that, fusing industrial materials with organic elements that coexisted in the river, symbolized the evolution of industrial technology and the colonies that cross the Llobregat River. In this work, each texture and color represents the history of each industrial colonies, and we can see that every technological advance has an environmental and social price.
